Biological object determination by Raman scattering enhancement supported on the multilayer dielectric thin film

The method for Raman scattering enhancing with using of one-dimensional photonic crystal (PC) as a substrate is proposed. Light falls through photonic crystal at an angle, providing a total reflection from the far photonic crystal borders. Excitation of a surface wave at this interface leads to significant local field intensity increase. We have showed that the proposed method can improve the sensitivity of traditional SERS method up to two orders by numerical calculations. We offer to use PC for additional enhance for biological object adsorbed on gold nanoparticles located on the PC interface.
