Effects of power and shape of pump light on pulse compression based on stimulated brillouin scattering

In this letter, we numerically investigate the effects of the power and shape of pump light on the temporal pulse compression characteristics of Stokes light by solving the three coupled amplitude equations of SBS in optical fibers using Runge-Kutta method. The result shows that the ultrashort Stokes optical pulse can be obtained with larger power, steeper raising edge and narrower pulse width of pump pulse.
