An image processing approach for characterizing working frequency of pulse combustion

The present work focuses on a method based on flame image processing to measure the working frequency of the pulse combustion. The dynamic characteristics were determined using the time-domain images obtained by high-speed CCD. Image processing method based on gray value extraction was used to get time domain gray signals from the flame images. FFT based analysis was applied to get the working frequency. A systematic comparative study was conducted by applying flame images and pressure signals in a pulse combustor. Results indicate that the flame image processing approach show excellent ability in characterizing the working frequency of the pulse combustion.
