Monopulse technique with Vertigo array

This paper describes the application of the phase monopulse DOA estimation algorithm, using a new concept of sparse array called Vertigo. This novel element distribution is based on a transformation of a generic regular lattice, introduced in [1], which aims at grating lobe suppression. This paper demonstrates that the Elevation and Azimuth main lobes are not affected by the aperiodic antenna element position. Furthermore, the Vertigo distribution avoids the ambiguity in the angular monopulse estimation - due to the grating lobes in a regular lattice - without affecting the angular estimate accuracy.
