LandSurf: A smart tool for evaluating properties and lands

The process of evaluating property is not an easy task. It requires various professional GIS, and topological engineers' skills. Much work and research has been done in this field. Existing applications have many limitations such as plotting on static maps, being tied to specific countries and areas. Also some of them are hard to be integrated with Google Maps, use Legacy APIs, and are implemented as desktop-based Applications. The problem arises as to the means to benefit from the available tools in order to acquire and process the said information, and whether there exists an automation tool that can accomplish this task. In this paper, we present “LandSurf” application that is expected to address the aforementioned drawbacks. Application Program Interfaces (API) of Google Maps are used to design an MVC, java web-based application. The system is able to return the nearest road to the property and also the nearby land marks.
