Hexagonal symmetry metasurfaces for broadband antenna applications

In this work a three layer metasurface with hexagonal symmetry is presented. This surface supports a TE-like mode confined to the surface and presents very low dispersion. This means that the effective refractive index of the surface is almost constant over a broad range of frequencies. Furthermore, the surface exhibits high isotropy. These two characteristics make the surface appealing for the manufacture of broadband lens antennas. In this paper we present both simulation and experimental data that demonstrate these properties.
