Circular-linear polarization signatures in bistatic scattering models applied to signals of opportunity

In recent years, development of reliable bistatic scattering models for retrieving high quality geological data such as soil moisture from Signals of Opportunity (SoOp) reflectometry has been a subject of great interest. This paper extends our previous bistatic model by including Right-hand Circularly Polarized (RCHP) incident wave scenarios. We provide a fully bistatic radar scattering model from SoOp (linearly and circularly polarized incident waves) at L-band and P-band for vegetated terrains. The three major scattering mechanisms considered in this model include direct ground scattering (G), vegetation volume scattering (B), and vegetation ground double-bounce scattering (TG and BG). Moreover, the Stabilized Extended Boundary Condition Method (SEBCM) is used in lieu of Small Perturbation Method (SPM) for the rough surface scattering analysis.
