Design and qualification test results of large deployable reflector for ets-8

NEC TOSHIBA Space Systems, Ltd. (NTSpace) has been developing the Large Deployable Reflector (LDR) for the Engineering Test Satellite-8 (ETS-8) under contract from National space Development Agency of Japan(NASDA). The design of LDR has been certified through the qualification tests, the element tests and the several kind of analysis. And critical design review (CDR) was performed and closed with fruitful conclusions in this February. Now we are preparing for manufactures of two sets of LDR flight models, one is for the data transmission and the other is for the reception. We could advance in knowledge and technology concerning such the large deployable reflector through ETS-8 project activities. This paper presents the representative results of the designs and the qualification tests concerning LDR.
