Modeling and simulation of wave propgation in graded-index waveguides and optical couplers

This paper uses the Beam Propagation Method (BPM) to develop a Matlab-based toolbox with a user-friendly graphical interface for modeling and simulation of guided wave propagation in graded-index waveguides and optical couplers. Matlab has been used to develop the toolbox since it has powerful graphical features that allow for the propagation patterns to be interactively displayed along the waveguide structure. Using the developed simulation toolbox one can understand and visualize the wave propagation phenomena in graded-index waveguides and optical couplers.
