Research on the Extraction Algorithm of RT Mold Geometry Feature Based on STL Model

Rapid tooling (RT) technology can effectively improve the production efficiency and market competitiveness of enterprises, but the forming process of RT is influenced by many factors, which is a typical weak theoretical strong experience field, How to introduce the expert knowledge and experience into RT forming process is the key to improve product quality. However, due to lack of the information of products from design to manufacture, which restricts the forming process control by experienced conversion to intelligent control. The Algorithm of the modeling and extraction for RT process design are proposed base on the content and classification of the products, and product feature model is established for describing the information of RT mold, so as to provide technical support for rapid tooling forming process from experience control to intelligent control.
