A computational system based on FEM and PSO techniques for magnetic field optimization

Finite Element Methods (FEM) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) have been used as solution for many electromagnetic problems and modeling. This paper presents a computational system combining a validated FEM solver and PSO techniques for electromagnetic optimization problems. The case considered here is an ideal cylindrical Halbach Array of permanent magnets, whose results are compared to ideal models in order to validate the optimization procedure.
