Perspectives on inter-state transmission interconnection between China and Arab States

Global energy interconnection based on “one Belt and one Road initiative” becomes core strategy of China State Grid and promotes the sustainable transformation of world energy system. Technically, mutual benefits from the inter-state transmission may exist between China and Arab States. The paper proposes an economic benefit assessment method of inter-state transmission project using chronological production cost simulation model. An index assessing economic benefit with consideration of generation revenue in energy sending end and load payment in energy receiving is established. In the case study, based on the load and generation status of Sinkiang and Gulf States in year 2015, inter-state transmission benefit is quantified. In the end, a preliminary transmission interconnection plan from China to Arab States is proposed.
