Research on new series compensation technology in distribution network

The main role of the series compensation technology in distribution network is to improve the distribution irrational problems of voltage on distribution line and improve the quality of voltage. Due to the special nature of distribution network, the series compensation mainly adopts the way of excessive compensation, but this will inevitably lead to ferromagnetic resonance. In order to address these issues, study a new compensation scheme combined with FACTS technology is important. This paper analyzes the mechanism of ferromagnetic resonance caused by capacitor and transformer, and introduces its characteristics and required conditions, the ferromagnetic resonance phenomenon was simulated by PSCAD simulation platform. Then, combined with the development of FACTS, the research on a new series compensation scheme is did, which can effectively prevent the occurrence of ferromagnetic resonance in the condition of improving the voltage quality; and the effectiveness of this scheme is verified by PSCAD simulation software.
