Study of measuring technology on laser PWP method by external shield of cable

Due to the inherent defects of LIPP method in the examining system, the study on the space charge distribution in the full-size HVDC cables is still a challenge. In this paper, a new measurement system, designed on the basis of modified PWP method, was developed for measuring space charge distribution in real long HVDC cable. To check this measurement system, space charge distributions in real HVDC cable sample with 6mm thick insulation was measured. The experiment results presented demonstrates the validity of this measurement system.
