Ionically conducting polyether salt complexes

Complexes of alkali salts and poly (ethylene oxide), (PEO)n·MX, are the most prominent members of a relatively new class of ionically conducting solids, the socalled polymer electrolytes [1, 2]. Although their conductivities are rather modest (10

or less at roomtemperature) these materials have met with considerable interest because of their potential use in batteries. In contrast to inorganic solid ionic conductors, these materials can be easily cast into thin flexible films.
