Smart sensing and data logging using RFID

A Class-1 Generation-2 compliant UHF RFID tag board, capable of smart sensing and data logging is introduced in this paper. The new tag has the ability to autonomously sense, process and store data over prolonged periods of time until the tag comes within range of an RFID reader. The logging operation is intelligently controlled to effectively utilize the memory, thereby enabling the tag to incorporate sensors to give more information than existing RFID tags.
