Circularly-polarized antenna array for beam steering

In this paper the design and optimization of a rectangular truncated corner microstrip antenna array for beam steering is presented. The designed six-element array exhibits optimized return loss (better than 18 dB) and broadside axial ratio (below 3 dB) over the operation bandwidth. Besides, using a beamforming algorithm, an analysis of the beam steering capabilities of the array is carried out. Finally, a prototype is constructed, and experimental results are given to validate the presented theoretical results.
