ADALINE-Alienation coefficients approach to busbar fault detection and classification

This paper presents a novel technique based on the combination of adaptive linear neuron (ADALINE) and alienation coefficients to busbar faults analysis. This technique is able to differentiate between non-faulty transients such as current transformers (CTs) saturation, capacitive or inductive loads, against fault transients in internal-zone. The magnitudes of three-phase currents are obtained by ADALINE to define the details of alienation coefficients. This technique is able to detect the DC saturation phenomena during an external fault without needs to more devices as much as fast prevention of false trip. Simulation results show the fast dynamic response of proposed algorithm.
