No-Slip Motion of a Spherical Magnet on the Top of a Conductive Plate

The trajectory of a spherical magnet that rolls without slipping on a conductive plate is modeled. A time-stepping T⃗ - Ω method is used to find the electromagnetic force and the torque on the magnet. Since the degrees of freedom involve both the position and the direction of magnetization of the spherical magnet, the motion here cannot be reduced to the calculation of a single friction force coefficient. The trajectory of the spherical magnet is computed and compared with our experimental data.
