A Polarimetric Calibration Error Model for Dual-Polarized Antenna Element Patterns

A polarimetric calibration error model is presented for accuracy analysis of planar dual-polarized phased-array weather radar. Based on the measured patch antenna patterns, the linear error model is verified. With this error model, the performance of a planar dual-polarized phased-array weather radar is theoretically evaluated through Monte Carlo simulations. The simulated results show that the measurement error of antenna patterns is the dominant error mechanism.
