Detecting the survival of E. coli Bacteria in Different Types of Water Using Microwave Technique

Detecting the Survival of E. coli Bacteria in Different Types of Water Using Microwave Technique is proposed. In this paper, theoretical investigation has been carried out to determine the relation between dielectric constant of different types of water with the life of E. coli bacteria in all water and analyze them. The basic principle is to monitor the wavelength of radiation and reduce the physical size of probe by immersing and transmitting antenna, receiving antenna, and target into a high dielectric constant material, which is water. Different types of water give different effect of temperature to the life of E. coli bacteria. Thus, a slotted rectangular patch antenna was designed and presented in this paper. The results shows that different types of water has their own temperature range that can make E. coli bacteria live and survive, otherwise E. coli will be inactive.
