Implementation approaches are described for image acquisition and playback of three-dimensional (3-D) computer graphics, 3-D television and 3-D theater movies without special glasses. Projection lamps, spatial light modulators, cathode ray tubes, and dynamic scanning are all eliminated by the application of an active image array, all static components and a semi-specular screen. The resulting pict... View full abstract»

A technique is proposed for enhancing picture edges (sharpening boundaries) which will crispen the appearance of television pictures. Two closely related methods for both recognizing an edge, and introducing the enhancement, are presented. The first method is simpler, while the second causes less distortion. Either method is applied based on a criterion that defines the location of an edge. This e... View full abstract»

Two kinds of integrated circuit are described for use in FM demodulators of satellite TV receivers. The ICs, an automatic gain control amplifier (AGC AMP) and a phase-locked demodulator, include a signal level amplifier, a driver for the first AGC circuit, an automatic frequency tuning amplifier, and a voltage regulator. The ICs were fabricated using an advanced nitride self-aligned process with 2... View full abstract»

A microminiature color camera system with an extremely small camera head utilizing a CCD (computer-controlled display) image sensor is described. The camera system consists of a camera head unit with a camera holder, a camera control unit, and an AC power supply unit. The camera head is connected to the camera control unit by a 4 mm diameter, 2 m long cable. The design used separates the camera he... View full abstract»
