Radar systems from Robert Bosch are used in adaptive cruise-control systems that detect objects hundreds of meters ahead of a vehicle. These systems are designed to allow a vehicle to pull out into a passing lane while maintaining the selected speed of the vehicle. Most people, who have driven for a while using such a radar, don't want to give it up. It's projected that the number of users will co... View full abstract»

Mobile communication devices are now truly ubiquitous and as such they are the ideal tool for research in human social relationships. Using only smartphones with customized operating systems and with no prior knowledge about the participants, we show that it is possible to accurately infer the existence of social ties between mobile phones users in a U.K. high school.
