Chirality is a geometric notion which refers to the handedness of an object. A chiral object is, by definition, a body that cannot be brought into congruence with its mirror image by translation and rotation. In other words, such a body lacks bilateral symmetry, and cannot be superposed on its mirror image. An object of this sort has the property of handedness and is said to be either right-handed... This is a review of radar from its initial beginnings to its possible directions in the future. The key events which led to new capabilities in radar, its major applications, and the current trends in its technology are mentioned. The particular applications of ground-probing radar, doppler radar for detection of dangerous weather, and HF over-the-horizon radar are cited as specific examples of cu... View full abstract»

The greatest reward that I received from my work in the field of Antennas and Propagation was the association with hundredosf wonderful people. This included employees of the Electrical Engi- Texas at Austin in all capacities - faculty, proneering Research Laboratory of The University of fessional and staff members, technicians and support personnel, and many graduate students. It also provided co... View full abstract»

Small linear arrays of dipoles, with and without reflecting screen, are sometimes used for hf broadcasting, or at higher frequencies for ECM and other applications. When the scan is in the plane in which the element pattern has directivity, or when a backscreen is used, the element pattern will affect the angle of the maximum radiation, especially for very small arrays.
