IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (873 KB)

In order to describe the characteristics of some systems, such as the process of economic and product forecasting, a lot of discrete data may be used. Although they are discrete, the inside law can be founded by some methods. For a series that the discrete degree is large and the integrated tendency is ascending, a new method for grey forecasting model group is given by the grey system theory. The... View full abstract»

  • A heuristic algorithm for the two-machine flowshop group scheduling problem

    Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):8 - 16
IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (1209 KB)

This paper presents the two-machine flowshop hop group scheduling problem with the optimal objective of maximum lateness. A dominance rule within group and a dominance rule between groups are established. These dominance rules along with a previously established dominance rule are used to develop a heuristic algorithm. Experimental results are given and analyzed. View full abstract»

Based on the modern economic theory and the characteristics of China's energy consumption, this paper analyzes the determinants of energy demand in China, builds up a China's energy demand model, and examines the long-run relationship between China's aggregate energy consumption and the main economic variables such as GDP by using the Johansen multivariate approach. It is found that there exists u... View full abstract»

  • An algorithm for estimating the object depth accurately by ground-penetrating radar

    Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):24 - 30
IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (1892 KB)

Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) is a remote sensing technique used to obtain information on subsurface features from data collected over the surface. We propose an automatic algorithm for estimating object depth using f-k migration and velocity scanning methods in a homogeneous medium. To improve the accuracy of the algorithm, the formula used to calculate the GPR valid lateral aperture is also pre... View full abstract»

  • Feature extraction of localized scattering centers using the modified TLS-Prony algorithm and its applications

    Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):31 - 39
IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (1235 KB)

This paper presents an all-parametric model of radar target in optic region, in which the localized scattering center's frequency and aspect angle dependent scattering level, distance and azimuth locations are modeled as the feature vectors. And the traditional TLS-Prony algorithm is modified to extract these feature vectors. The analysis of Cramer-Rao bound shows that the modified algorithm not o... View full abstract»

  • Determining the optimal solution set for linear fractional programming

    Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):40 - 45
IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (829 KB)

The structure of the optimal solution set is derived for linear fractional programming with the representation theorem of polyhedral sets. Based on an adaptation of the convex simplex method credited to Gilmore and Gomory, we give the uniqueness condition of optimal solution and the computational procedures to find all optimal solutions if the uniqueness condition is not satisfied. Finally, an ill... View full abstract»

  • The fuzzy modeling algorithm for complex systems based on stochastic neural network

    Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):46 - 51
IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (1038 KB)

A fuzzy modeling method for complex systems is studied. The notation of general stochastic neural network (GSNN) is presented and a new modeling method is given based on the combination of the modified Takagi and Sugeno's(MTS) fuzzy model and one-order GSNN. Using expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm, parameter estimation and model selection procedures are given. It avoids the shortcomings brou... View full abstract»

This paper presents an adaptive fuzzy control scheme based on modified genetic algorithm. In the control scheme, genetic algorithm is used to optimze the nonlinear quantization functions of the controller and some key parameters of the adaptive control algorithm. Simulation results show that this control scheme has satisfactory performance in MIMO systems, chaotic systems and delay systems. View full abstract»

In a distributed eMarketplace, recommended product ontologies are required for trading between buyers and” sellers. Conceptual clustering can be employed to build dynamic recommended product ontologies. Traditional methods of conceptual clustering (e. g. COBWEB or Cluster/2) do not take heterogeneous attributes of a concept into account. Moreover, the result of these methods is clusters oth... View full abstract»

The document image segmentation is very useful for printing, faxing and data processing. An algorithm is developed for segmenting and classifying document image. Feature used for classification is based on the histogram distribution pattern of different image classes. The important attribute of the algorithm is using wavelet correlation image to enhance raw image's pattern, so the classification a... View full abstract»
