The journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics is published in Chinese and in English. The Chinese edition (ISSN 1001-506X, first issue in 1979) comes out monthly with English abstracts, and the English edition (ISSN 1004-4132, first issue in 1990) comes out quarterly. Both are high-tech oriented. View full abstract»

This paper summarizes the research results dealing with washer and nut taxonomy and knowledge base design, making the use of fuzzy methodology. In particular, the theory of fuzzy membership functions, similarity matrices, and the operation of fuzzy inference play important roles. A realistic set of 25 washers and nuts are employed to conduct extensive experiments and simulations. The investigation... View full abstract»

This paper reports an aspiration-directed model-based decision support system (AMDSS) integrated with a knowledge-based simulation system. The system is designed to study China's mid-range economic development strategy. The capacity of the system is enhanced by the knowledge-based component which provides a knowledge-based simulation environment for model management. Currently the system has passe... • Integration of decision-support and knowledge-based techniques in a problem-solving strategy for selection problems

    Publication Year: 1996, Page(s):35 - 54

The limitations of traditional approaches to selection problems are examined. A problemsolving strategy is presented in which decision-support and knowledge-based techniques play complementary roles. An approach to the representation of knowledge to support the problem-solving strategy is presented which avoids commitment to a specific programming language or implementation environment. The proble... View full abstract»

  • Computer support for concept engineering design: Enabling interaction with design knowledge

    Publication Year: 1996, Page(s):55 - 71
IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (3213 KB)

This paper addresses the question of how to support the designer with appropriate knowledge during conceptual design. It begins with a discussion of knowledge-based support for design and is followed by a scenario account of the use of a Knowledge Support System. A system is described that demonstrates interaction with different forms of knowledge in concept vehicle design. It supports the creatio... View full abstract»

The present article outlines progress made in designing an intelligent information system for automatic management and knowledge discovery in large numeric and scientific databases, with a validating application to the CAST-NEONS environmental databases used for ocean modeling and prediction. We describe a discovery-learning process (Automatic Data Analysis System) which combines the features of t... View full abstract»

A combination of the loosely and compactly coupled integrations of CAD tools and its applications in the design and fabrication of surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices are proposed in this paper. Three core modules are developed as design and mask pattern verification module, database module, and device characteristics simulation module. All the operations are controlled under Microsoft Windows GUI... View full abstract»
