  • Long-term energy demand and CO2 problem in the PRC

    Publication Year: 1991, Page(s):29 - 41
IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (1198 KB)

The long-term energy demand in China and the Chinese share in global CO2 emission are forecasted on the basis of scenarios of population growth and economy development up to 2050 proposed in view of the interaction of energy, economy, environment and social development. The total energy demand in 2050 will reach 4.4~ 5.4 billion tce. It is shown in energy supply analysis that coa... View full abstract»

  • Chaos in a damped power system

    Publication Year: 1991, Page(s):42 - 50
IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (938 KB)

The analytical investigation of a damped power system has been made based on Holmes and Marsden's theorems. The condition for the occurrence of chaotic motions in the system is that the dampingfactor has to possess negative values. The numerical simulation results concur very well with theoretical predictions. View full abstract»

  • Applications of atomic and molecular theory to calculations in space science and engineering

    Publication Year: 1991, Page(s):51 - 59
IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (1056 KB)

A systematic elaboration is given on atomic and molecular theory problems encounteredin dealing with space science and engineering. Three sections are presented in the paper on calculations for gas thermodynamic and transfer properties, characteristics of the optical radiation fromthe reentry bodies, and the interaction between surfaces of man-made satellites and incident particles. Researches on ... View full abstract»

  • A new RCS statistical model of radar target

    Publication Year: 1991, Page(s):60 - 66
IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (604 KB)

In this paper, the drawbacks of conventional target fluctuation models used in radar target modeling are set out. It is usually difficult to statistically model a real target because there are very few parameters which can be used to approximate the probability density function (PDF) of a real target's radar cross section (RCS) in conventional target models. A new method of statistical modeling is... View full abstract»

Microwave diffraction tomography is a process to infer the internal structure of an object from multiple angle views of microwave diffraction shadow. Being sensitive to variations in refractiveindex of the object, the procedure can be used to measure permittivity distributions within dielectricobjects and to image soft tissues for biomedical applications. The optimal resolution distance obtainable... View full abstract»

  • Locally optimum detection of weak pulse signals in non-Gaussian noise

    Publication Year: 1991, Page(s):74 - 80
IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (533 KB)

In this paper, the problem of locally optimum detection of weak pulse signals innarrow-band non-Gaussian noise is discussed. A generalized model is proposed for locally optimumdetectors (LOD) and the corresponding physical meaning is explained. On the basis of this generalized model, the LOD structures are derived for detecting both coherent- and incoherent-pulse signals in narrow-band non-Gaussia... View full abstract»

Space robots possess unique distinguishing features unlike general robots on earth, due to the particular environments in space. The developing of various practical space robots promoting the improvement of space science and technology is a complex man-machine-environment engineering problem. This paper analyses from the systems engineering viewpoint the space robot system in the scope of the arch... View full abstract»

  • The configuration optimization for multilimbed robots with the viewpoint of maximum loading capacity

    Publication Year: 1991, Page(s):107 - 118
IEEE is not the copyright holder of this material | Click to expandAbstract | PDF file iconPDF (954 KB)

This paper presents a method for optimizing the configuration of a multilimbed robot (the robot with both arms and legs) which works with a big load. A least-effort criterion is proposed as the base of optimization. When the applying Cartesian force and the task point are given, the best configuration of the robot will be easily found through a series of motions of the robot and some simple comput...
