A macro model of the 6.2-V 1N5920B Zener diode which very accurately represents the measured characteristics both in the DC and AC domain is presented. For users who do not have access to optimization software, the model can still be easily customised for other Zener diodes by replacing the emission coefficients (N), saturation currents (Is) and series resistance (Rs) under forward and reverse bia... • Multiple quantum-well technology takes SEED

Progress in the development of self-electrooptic-effect devices (SEEDs) is discussed. The devices include the resistor-SEED (R-SEED) device, which can be viewed as a simple NOR gate. The symmetric SEED (S-SEED) and the logic-SEED (L-SEED) devices with improved features, functionality, and performance are also considered. The integration of FETs with multiple quantum well (MQW) modulators (FET-SEED... View full abstract»

  • Smart pixels for two-dimensional arrays

    Publication Year: 1993, Page(s):19 - 27
    Cited by:  Papers (6)

Optical switching-and-logic technology for use in two-dimensional smart-pixel arrays is discussed. The technology is integrable and cascadable. Optically controlled vertical cavity self-emitting laser (VCSEL)-based switches, Boolean optical logic, and reconfigurable optical switching are discussed.<> View full abstract»

  • Phase-shifting masks gain an edge

The potential, working principles, and approaches in phase shifting masks for optical lithography are discussed. The tradeoffs of each approach, and fabrication, inspection, repair, and tolerances are considered. It is feasible to use the phase shifting technology to improve optical lithography to 0.18- mu m feature size with k/sub 1/=0.35, lambda =248 nm, and NA=0.5. Further resolution improvemen... An improved design for a switched-capacitor pulsewidth modulated (PWM) DC-DC converter with adjustable conversion ratios is presented. The converter provides a nominal power of 40 W and nominal voltage conversion ratio of 12/5. The same structure can provide other conversion ratios, as required. Such low power supplies use relatively small, low-value capacitors, and could conceivably be realized w... View full abstract»
