  • Superconducting AC generator with a magnetic steel outer rotor

    The specific power output per unit length of large superconducting AC generators is limited by the material properties of the outer rotor.     The design, mode of operation and limitations of static-subsynchronous-resonance (SSR) suppression filters are described. The effectiveness of these filters is evaluated by both eigenvalue analyses using linearised mathematical models and transient simulations.
