The equivalent circuit parameters of rectangular waveguide H-plane junctions, bends and obstacles may be found by a two-dimensional finite element method. It is shown that fine tuning of high Q VHF coaxial cavity resonators over a range of some 500 kHz is possible using PIN diodes and capacitive probes, without serious degradation of the unloaded Q and without introducing severe nonlinearities.
