Multiproject chip implementation has been used in teaching analog MOS circuit design. After having worked with computer simulation and layout aids in homework problems, students designed novel circuits including several high-performance op amps, an A/D converter, a switched capacitor filter, a 1 K dynamic RAM, and a variety of less conventional MOS circuits such as a V/I converter, an ac/dc conver... • Multiport network formulation of noise power delivered by wire antennas-alternative approach to use of radiation resistance

The noise power available from any antenna which is conjugately matched is known from thermodynamic considerations to be equal to KT dfη where K is Boltzmann's constant, T is the effective temperature of the antenna, df is the bandwidth, and η is the antenna efficiency. This paper provides an alternative method of calculating the noise power available from any wire antenna in terms... View full abstract»

This paper describes an External Degree program for a Master's degree in engineering with emphasis on electrical engineering options. The program is offered at the Naval Weapons Center at China Lake, CA (located 150 mi north of Los Angeles) where there is a large body of technical personnel engaged in sophisticated research and development in advanced defense systems. The faculty is selected from ... View full abstract»

  • The Case for Project-Oriented Courses with "Educationally Useful" Student Design Projects

In looking for "real life" undergraduate student design projects engineering educators may overlook projects which have a "real life" educational purpose within the University. Such "educationally useful" projects can provide the stimulus for very motivating student design experiences. In this paper the concept of "educationally useful" student design projects is formulated and three examples are ... View full abstract»

  • A Two-Pass Method of Midband AC Analysis for Multistage Transistor Amplifiers

    Publication Year: 1982, Page(s):71 - 74
    Cited by:  Papers (1)
Request permission for commercial reuse | Click to expandAbstract |PDF file iconPDF (711 KB)

A method of ac midband analysis of multistage bijunction and field-effect transistor amplifiers with no feedback loops is presented. The method clarifies the functioning of transistors for students and makes the analysis of an amplifier with any number of stages an easy affair. Two examples are worked to demonstrate the effectiveness and simplicity of the method. View full abstract»

Two laboratory experiments using the dynamometer-type wattmeter as a low-frequency spectrum analyzer are presented. These experiments are simple, inexpensive, and easily understood by students. The wattmeter spectrum analyzer technique is capable of measuring frequencies from dc to approximately 500 Hz with immediate and meaningful results. View full abstract»
