    A collision-free control method is developed for an articulated manipulator. The control method is implemented on a parallel-processing system composed of 64 microprocessor units.     A multifan hovering mechanism is investigated as a vehicle for field work in a mountainous region. This paper presents the control characteristics of the hovering mechanism, including the effects of level and sloping ground.     A multiloop feedback control system supplemented by a complementary controller is used to improve the drive performance of a DC servo motor and reduce sensitivity to parameter variations, nonlinear effects, and other disturbances.
