    An adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) for the fault diagnosis and prediction of stator winding interturns of PM brushless DC motor drive systems is presented. A transient model of the drive system is set up and run under different healthy and faulty conditions. The steady-state supply current is monitored and its Fourier transform is used to compare the healthy operation frequency spectrum to the faulty operational spectra under different loads. Diagnostic indices were extracted as the frequency locations and component magnitudes of two specific samples of the frequency domain sequence. A Sugeno-based ANFIS was set up and trained using the simulation results to differentiate between healthy and faulty operations. This system was tested by simulation results under different interturn percentages and load torques from those used to train it; the test results were quite acceptable. View full abstract»

    This paper defines a narrow sense (NS) Pareto optimality and shows that the NS Pareto optimality is equivalent to a Nash equilibrium for electricity producers. It claims that a vector optimization is a generalized multi-objective optimization, which can be solved using the Kuhn-Tucker vector optimization theorem (KTVOT). The paper establishes a mathematical relationship between the Pareto optimality, the Nash-Cournot gaming, and KTVOT, based on a gaming model for deregulated electricity markets. View full abstract»

    The unified power flow controller (UPFC) combines the advantageous features of both shunt and series compensations; therefore, it is an effective device that can adjust power system parameters in order to increase power transfer capability, stabilize the system and improve the economics of a power system. This paper presents the exact pi-model of the UPFC-inserted transmission lines from which the injection-model using two-port networks is derived.
