Increased interactivity is a general tendency for telecommunication services today, an aspect, which is also reflected in the more traditional distribution services like television. The broadcasting has been handicapped by the limited capacity of analog delivery and one-way delivery. In the transition to digital TV broadcasting infrastructures rapidly, all people want to experience new services su... View full abstract»

Due to its flexibility and simplicity, XML is rapidly emerging as the de facto standard for exchanging and querying documents on the Web. In this paper, we describe an approach for an efficient construction of path indexes for XML documents on relational databases. Our approach does not require the modification of RDBMSs and reduces the storage usage compared to the path table approach. View full abstract»

The digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) adopted the MPEG-4 standard as the AV standard. And the development of DMB and MPEG-4 led to the necessity of the various contents. In MPEG-4, two types of file format such as MPEG-4 file format (MP4) and extensible MPEG-4 textual format (XMT) which are the format to express the contents are defined for the composition of objects. Each format has its advan... View full abstract»

In this paper, we implemented PSIP generating system that creates PSIP and PSI tables based on PMCP. The system consists of a controller and a PSIP generator, which are elements of generic data broadcasting system, and communicates metadata based on PMCP. The PSIP generator not only generates PSIP and PSI tables from metadata based on PMCP but also outputs TS packets. The controller, the other par... View full abstract»

IP multicast is a technique that can transmit one copy of data traffic to multiple receivers at one time. Because it can greatly save the network bandwidth consumption and many applications are inherently multicast-based, it has been a research focus since the idea was proposed. However, because of many reasons, such as management, security, inter-domain routing, etc, it has not been widely deploy... View full abstract»

In this paper we propose a secure middleware system that provides security functionalities in its integrated components instead of security services. Public key infrastructure (PKI), attribute certificate (AC) and policy are employed in separated components of role based access control (RBAC) model. The secure components are managed and guided by routing based workflow that models the execution en... View full abstract»

This paper proposes an EAPF (energy-aware packet forwarding) for wireless sensor network using traffic control of data collection point. The proposed algorithm uses a concept of active network and computing power of the data collection point, which has rich energy and computing power. It can be useful to reduce data traffic in the sensor nodes because the data collection point does not need numero... View full abstract»
