  • A 100MHz S/s, 7 bit VCO-based ADC which is used in time interleaved ADC architectures

    In this paper, principles of time interleaved ADC and VCO-based ADC architectures are introduced. A design of VCO-based ADC which is suitable to be used in time interleaved ADC architectures is presented. In the design, a high speed sample and hold circuit is realized for wideband input, multi phase ring oscillator is adopted in order to increase time resolution, multi phase edge counter is used to complete the quantization process. The proposed ADC is designed in UMC 0.18μm technology. Simulation results show the proposed architecture can reach 7 bit output resolution at 100MHz speed of sample per second when a 1.037GHz input signal is applied. The proposed VCO-based ADC architecture is technology friendly for low power consumption compared to OPAMP-based ADC architectures at similar speed.   • A binocular vision tracking method based on Gabor filter

    To solve the stability and rapidity problem of visual tracking, the paper presents a method that the characteristic points in sequenced images assemblies for target is collected by the Gabor filter, and turned into matching templates. The detection with the Sobel operator is used to get initial points position, to determine each initial point parameter, and in this way we can speed up optimizing for parameters. The experimental result has been verified that the arithmetic is with highly reliability and availability, it can avoid the affection by target feature collecting from background, so the method has the benefit to the real time binocular tracking.   • A block-based DCT and multiresolution reordering scheme for high resolution image coding

    A scheme for high resolution image coding is proposed in this paper. In this scheme, 8×8 block-based DCT and multiresolution reordering is performed on the input image to obtain three-level wavelet-like tree structure. The same procedures are performed repeatedly on LL subband to obtain multi-level wavelet-like tree structure. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed scheme provides better PSNR performance at high bitrate than other DCT-based rearrangement ones. View full abstract»

  • A compact bandpass filter design using symmetrically triangular open loop resonator

    To obtain a good performance of bandpass filter, a more compact microstrip structure is proposed in this paper. Using embedded symmetrically triangular open loops into the resonator, three transmission zeros are found in its' stopband. Therefore, characteristic of sharp rejection is formed, and much smaller size has been obtained for this filter. Compared to the conventional structure using one triangular open loop outside the resonator, the newly designed filter has a size reduction of 46%.   • A descending suffix tree-based pattern matching algorithm for intrusion detection

    Pattern matching is an important detecting method of a misuse intrusion detection system. With the increase in the number of rules, the performance of pattern matching algorithm has been a gradually decline and has been a bottleneck. A new type of pattern matching based on suffix tree is proposed. The method mines rule's data structure and prunes rule set based suffix tree, the model size of the search space has been reduced. Experiments show, compared to the conventional pattern matching method, it is an effective method to reduce the time of pattern matching, and improves the detection efficiency of intrusion detection systems. This paper presents a solution of access control system base on the ZigBee technology under IEEE802.15.4 standards with the transformation system.   • A design of MathML web based formula search system

    As one of the most important element in knowledge system, math formulas is playing an important role in web based remote teaching, information publication and academic exchange. However, in current situation, the difficulty of searching formulas is always upsetting. A formula search system is designed in this paper. It is able to implement online math formula input and precise search. The system uses JSP as UI development language, Oracle as background data base and MathML as the description language to math formulas. The design of the online formula edition module enables users to edit math formulas at will. The formulas in this system are stored as MathMLcodes, for which the query to math formulas can be realized by matching mathml codes. View full abstract»

  • A height controller design for miniature UAVs based on GPS and barometer

    With the limitations of airborne sensors configuration of conventional miniature UAVs, this paper proposes a practical real-time algorithm which can integrate barometric height and GPS altitude. This algorithm uses the GPS altitude to calibrate baro-altimeter on-line, without considering the motion model and maneuverability of carrier. Tests showed that the fusion algorithm has significantly improved measurement results of altitude information, combining short-term and dynamic performance of barometric height with long-term stability of GPS altitude. On this basis, the height controller was designed for miniature UAVs, and successfully applied to the flight control system of a small unmanned aerial vehicle for polar research, with the control error less than 10m during cruise stage.   • A method for sorting out the spam from Chinese product reviews

    This paper conducts a research on the spam detection in the field of Chinese product reviews. As to useless reviews, the paper uses four important classification features based on questions, hyperlinks and so on to characterize reviews, and then adopts the classification method based on the Logistic regression to detect the useless reviews. As to those untruthful reviews, firstly 2-gram model is proposed to characterize reviews with the consideration of the word order, then the Katz smoothing method is adopted to smooth the model, and lastly the KL divergence is added to detect the untruthful reviews. The experiments have illustrated that those methods put forward in this paper can effectively detect the spam in the field of Chinese product reviews. View full abstract»

  • A new envelope tracking technique for concurrent duan-band PAs

    In this paper, a new envelope tracking (ET) technique is proposed for concurrent dual-band power amplifiers (PAs). By combining the envelopes of two input signals of PAs at different frequency bands with proper weights, the ET technique realizes an enhancement in the total efficiency. The bandwidth of the synthesized envelope is analyzed. The result shows that the proposed ET technique does not increase the band width of the signal, which will alleviate the bandwidth burden of the envelope amplifier. View full abstract»

  • A new extending orthogonal space-time block coding

    The extending orthogonal space-time block code is constituted by identical orthogonal space-time block code (OSTBC). However, the channel fading coefficient of each branch of each OSTBC is not taken into consideration. For this problem, an improved extending orthogonal space-time block code is proposed. Analysis shows that the system performance is enhanced, and the computational complexity is also greatly reduced with only a few bits increasing of feedback information.   • A new keyword-based similarity measuring model on peer groups in peer-to-peer networks

    Peers were divided into different peer groups according to similar contents or interests to improve search efficiency in peer-to-peer networks. But with the number of peer groups grows up, when none peer could provide results for a request within one peer group, flooding will be used which will also cause large network flows. In order to increase search efficiency further, peer groups were studied, and the concept of similar peer groups and a keywords based similarity measuring model between peer groups were proposed. In the model, similarity degrees of each document belonging two peers were first calculated according to the keywords in different peer groups, and then the similarity degree between the two peers was determined by similar documents and their similarity degrees. After that, the two peer groups' similarity degree relied on the amount of the similar pairs and their similarity degrees. At last, simulation analysis demonstrated that the proposed model got closer results with the actual situation than models based VSM. View full abstract»

The algorithm provides the reference for communication access, avoidance and power control of cognitive radio subscribers.     This article studied a novel Log-Periodic Dipole Antenna (LPDA) with distributed inductive load for size reduction. By adding a short circuit stub at top of the each element, the dimensions of the LPDA are reduced by nearly 50% compared to the conventional one. The impedance bandwidth of the presented antenna is nearly 122% (54~223MHz) (S11<;10dB), and this antenna is very suited for BROADCAST and TV applications. View full abstract»

  • A novel OTA with digitally controlled and linearly tunable transconductance

    An operational transconductance amplifier (OTA), where its transconductance gain can be digitally controlled and linearly tuned, is proposed in this paper. The realization method is achieved by biasing the two fully balanced differential pairs with class AB current mirror and the current division network (CDN). gm of the proposed OTA can be linearly tuned by an external control current Iadj and the digitally controlled current gain α in the range of 0 to 500uS. The input-voltage range of about 200mVp-p with less than 1.0% nonlinearity is obtained.
