  • Industrialization of electric vehicles and key technologies

    Mass production and application of electric vehicles (EVs) have be an important national strategy all over the world. In China, the EV demonstrations have been carried out in 25 cities under the support of Chinese government. The industrialization of EVs is urgent and many problems exist for the sharp increase of the EVs market. Based on the summarization of the state-of-art in EVs and its key components like motor drive system, battery, controller and the infrastructure, the main problems are deduced. The corresponding key technologies are listed and the possible solutions are discussed. Taking Beijing as an example, the achievements of the EV industrialization are introduced. Also the successful mass applications of the battery electric buses in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, 2010 Shanghai Expo and Guangzhou Asian Games are introduced in details. Finally, the possible solutions and some advices are put forward for the industrialization of EVs from the aspects of research, production, test and policy. View full abstract»

    This paper demonstrates the work of measurement evaluation of electromagnetic radiation from wiring subsystem inside electrical vehicles. One motorcycle has been tested in a certificated EMC/EMI chamber as for the evaluation of far field interference generated from its driving system. The regulation of CISPR22 CLASS-B is referred for this analysis. And a near field of EM radiation is also carried out for analyzing the wiring system inside an electric car.     Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is the core control module of photovoltaic power generation system. In order to maximize the use of solar energy, maximum power tracking is a necessary. Based on mathematical engineering models of photovoltaic cells, the output characteristics of photovoltaic cells were studied in the case of the changing external environment. According to the output characteristics, based on the traditional incremental conductance method, we proposed an improved variable step of the duty cycle tracking technology through power detection. The traditional algorithm and improved algorithm were comparatively simulated using MATLAB / Simulink and simulation results show that the improved algorithm can achieve better tracking performance in the case of the changing external environment.     The voltage flicker which might bring out lighting equipments glitter and images distortion, make people's visual fatigue and adversely affect people's daily lives is caused by the great increase of shocking and nonlinear loads in the power system. In this paper, the causes, detection and measurement of the voltage fluctuation and flicker are analyzed, instantaneous reactive power theory detection method is used for simulation of voltage fluctuations and calculation of short-time flicker value and compared with square detection. The flicker values obtained by instantaneous reactive power theory detection are close to the real value, and the result of simulation shows the effectiveness of this method. View full abstract»

  • Harmonic analysis method based on multiple modulation zoom analysis and interpolating windowed FFT method

    Since many power electronics equipments and nonlinear loads were accessed, more and more harmonics and inter-harmonics occurred in power system. But when the analyzed signal contains components with frequency close to each other, precise analysis can not be made by traditional harmonics analysis methods such as interpolating windowed FFT method. In this paper, first a new method-multiple modulation zoom analysis based on complex analytic bandpass filter is adopted to make an accurate analysis to this kind of components. Then the remaining components are also analyzed by traditional method. Simulations compared to direct interpolating windowed FFT method show that the proposed method can make a much better analysis with higher frequency resolution and so effectiveness of this method is demonstrated.   • Study on charge controlled modulation of a current source grid-connected inverter

    In this paper, a Charge Controlled Modulation strategy for a current source inverter is studied, which controls the CSI output current integral (charge) to follow a ideal charge track. Charge Controlled modulation is a carrierless scheme switching at a variable frequency. Compared to existing modulation techniques, this Charge Controlled Modulation is not easy affected by dc current ripple, output current can quickly reach to steady state and can not generate high harmonics of fixed frequency. Finally, Charge Controlled Modulation CSI is used in grid connect of wind power and the simulation results show that the inverter can be controlled well. View full abstract»

    In this paper, photovoltaic (PV) grid-connected inverter which is the core device in PV grid-connected system has been in depth research. The current tracking control method is used in the inverter. In structure, this inverter consists of a DC/AC inverter and several connectors for switching and protection. A full bridge structure with the power frequency transformer has been applied in the DC/AC inverter. The prototype with 100W power based on DSP is developed for verifying the grid-connected control methods. Because of the powerful real time processing ability of the DSP, the output power factor of the PV inverter connected with grid can be controlled to unity.     A research of photovoltaic inverter based on UC3854 is proposed in this paper. UC3854 is a type of dedicated chip applied in control of active power factor correction. This paper uses voltage and current amplifiers of UC3854 to realize the double closed-loop control. Both the main circuit and the drive circuit are designed to be modular. All these improve the stability and anti-jamming ability of the system. Some new devices, such as ICL8038 and 34063 are used in this inverter. Based on them, the sinusoidal signal output, as well as the power design in the system, becomes quite easy and simple. With a simple structure, the inverter is convenient to operate.     In this paper, the photovoltaic monitoring system is designed as principle of environmental protection, energy conservation and stability. It provides general calculation of all parameters of the solar energy monitoring system and selects parameters for the photovoltaic cells and controller. The results of different algorithms are compared to make the maximum efficiency of the system. Taking Tianjin area as an example, the parameters of photovoltaic cells, the battery, the controller and other important devices are selected for the system.     Grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system is the development trend of photovoltaic systems. According to the grid-connected PV system characteristics, this paper presents the design of a three-phase photovoltaic grid-connected inverter based on the digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320F28016. The hardware circuit is designed and the main parameters of device are calculated. Using space vector pulse width modulation algorithm (SVPWM) and designing the algorithm of software control flow chart. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme has very good dynamic and static properties, and the wave of grid-connected current has the same frequency and phase as the grid voltage, meanwhile, highly accurate steady output and less harmonic disturbance is gained.     The complementary nature of wind and solar determines the advantages and potentiality of hybrid power generation systems. Off-grid wind-solar hybrid power generation systems are very important for remote areas and island coast defense in China. This paper classifies and summaries the structure of off-grid hybrid power generation systems first where the advantages and disadvantages of different system structures are described in detail. And then the design of off-grid wind-solar hybrid power generation systems, including design methods, capacity configuration of different parts, the classification and features of storage energy systems, is analyzed thoroughly. Through the analysis of different operation modes of the system, further exploration and study of control strategy has been carried out at last.     The construction of isolated renewable power systems is an important way to solve the power supply problems in remote areas and islands. In this paper, by using simulation software HOMER, the analysis of isolated renewable power systems is carried out in which the system configuration of a real island is simulated. And then the optimal capacity configuration of isolated renewable power systems, including installed capacity of renewable energy generation, energy storage systems, power electronic converters and diesel generators, is analyzed thoroughly. The simulation shows the results of different configurations and the factors affecting system configuration and operating parameters. Moreover, the key factors and specific influences of the design of isolated renewable power systems are obtained.     Grid-side converter in double fed wind power generation system is the research object of this paper. Firstly the key issues of the grid-side converter are analyzed in this paper. Based on the key issues, a new DSP-based implementation method of the grid-side converter is proposed. The mathematical model of DFIG and dq-coordinates mathematical model of grid-side converter is established in this paper. Based on the mathematical models, control strategy and objective for grid-side PWM converter is proposed. Software design of the control system is explained in detail, including overall structure, flow charts and detail problem during the process of realizing the control strategy. Simulation platform for 11 kw double feed wind power generation system is built. Experiment for grid-side converter is carried out based on the platform.     The PWM converter which provides a suitable excitation current for the generator is one of the key components of double fed wind power generation system. This paper takes the rotor-side converter in double fed wind power generation system as the research object. The control objective of the grid-side converter is analyzed in this paper. Based on the control objective, the key issues of realizing the control objectives are discussed in this paper. Then a new DSP-based implementation method of the rotor-side converter is proposed. The mt-coordinates mathematical model of rotor-side converter is established in this paper. Based on the mathematical model and the control objective, control strategy for rotor side PWM converter is proposed, including voltage control strategy pre-grid and PQ decoupling control strategy in grid-connected operation mode. At last, the control strategy is realizing by DSP. Simulation platform for 11 kw double feed wind power generation system is built for experimental research on the rotor-side converter.     Distributed generation and micro-grid system is increasingly concerned for its superior performance. Monitoring system is an important part of it. This paper analyzes the requirements of the monitoring system which is commonly used in micro-grid system. Then a new monitoring system scheme based on communication of equipments is proposed in this paper. The program uses the serial port to communicate with each device of the micro-grid system. Based on the monitoring system, real-time collection of operational data, condition monitoring of switches and control the remote device can be achieved. The monitoring system has some advantages, such like superior scalability, stability, and so on. Some communication methods of equipments which are commonly used in distributed generation and micro-grid system are given in this paper, such as the SMA grid inverter, Power One grid inverter and Rijia grid inverter etc. Finally, this paper takes the photovoltaic micro-grid experimental system of Tianjin University for an example, a monitoring system is designed for this micro-grid.   • Auto testing system for vehicle generator

    In the vehicle generator manufacturer, in order to ensure the quality of products, generators are needed to be tested to make sure whether the performance indices can meet the requirements. This paper has just designed a generator testing system, which is consisted by touch screen and PLC. In this system, PLC will control the frequency converter to drive motor and make the motor have different rotational speed. Motor drive the generator to generate electricity, and then this system will detect whether voltage and current generated by generator in different rotational speed can meet the demand automatically. With the purpose of increasing Human-Machine User-friendliness, control press-button and display would use HMI touch screen to achieve. It can make the test procedure quite easy and convenient.   • Research on modeling of BLDCM control system based on S-function Builder

    Based on the analysis of mathematical model of the Brushless DC motor (BLDCM), a novel method for modeling and simulation of BLDCM is proposed in this paper. In MATLAB/Simulink, the isolated S-function modules, such as motor module, speed PI controller module, current hysteresis controller module, EMF generated module etc are modeled flexibly with S-function Builder. By the organic combination of these modules, the model of BLDCM control system can be established efficiently. The correctness and effectiveness of the modeling based on S-function Builder are verified through the experimental data and waveform. This novel method is also suitable for verifying the reasonability of other control algorithms and offers a new thinking for designing and debugging actual motors. View full abstract»

    Establish a distributed generation and micro-grid laboratory is one of the key technologies which needed to be solved now. Based on it, realizing the control strategy of micro-grid system can be carried out. This paper describes the characteristics and focus of distributed generation. With the reference of them, the design and configuration of various energy micro-grid laboratory in Tianjin University is analyzed in this paper. In the laboratory, many types of distributed generation and energy storage, such as fuel cells, micro turbines, wind/photovoltaic hybrid generation, super capacitors, flywheel energy storage etc, are integrated and implemented. The achievements and objectives of the laboratory are also described in this paper. In addition, several key issues of laboratory construction are discussed, and the solutions for these issues are proposed in this paper.
