    The author has brought to the attention to the editors corrections to his paper, which appeared on the April 1938, issue of the Proceedings on pages 469-474.     The open hollow pipe of rectangular cross section is discussed from both practical and theoretical standpoints as a radiator and absorber of ultra-short electromagnetic waves.
