  • A fuzzy cognitive map modeling to explore the operation dynamics of third-party logistics providers

    In Taiwan, e-tailers have formed partnerships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and convenience stores so that the service of shopping on-line in an electronic store and picking up goods at a convenience store could be quite common and popular these days. This study observes that the e-tailers have more bargaining power at its disposal comparing to its counterparts, 3PLs, in the sense of partnership. The study applies the methodology of "Fuzzy cognitive maps" to model and explore the operation dynamics for 3PLs. The results show that the improvement on "Relationship with e-tailers" and "Logistics performance" could significantly facilitate 3PLs in expanding the market shares, total profits and somewhat mitigating the problems 3PLs would have encountered.   • Coordinating a supply chain with material flow and capital flow integrated

    Achieving effective coordination has become a pertinent research issue in supply chain management. The problem of capital shortage seems to be bottleneck especially for small and medium enterprises. This paper proposes a two-level supply chain model with delay in payments according to cases of the retailer's different order cycle time respectively, and inventory impawn financing to coordinate the supply chain with material flow and capital flow integrated and to minimize the total cost.   • Clustering analysis of broadband customers and its application in marketing

    The thesis briefly introduced data mining and clustering theories. Also through K-Means, ADSL voice multiplex customers are clustered, which caused over 240,000 customers divided into 8 clusters. Further analysis showed that the 8 clusters had distinct differences in basic characters and surfing the net. However, these differences could help X telecom Co. to design pointed sales strategies respectively, so as to improve customer's value, using perception and satisfaction and to reduce customer dropout.   • Petri net based modeling study on traditional enterprise transformed to SDN enterprise

    To help enterprises in China obtain more competition advantage by relying on the effective management mode, the Supply and Demand Network with multifunction and opening characteristics for enterprises (abbr. SDN) as a new management mode is proposed. As a result, the research on traditional enterprises transformed into SDN enterprises is being carried on. To assist enterprises to launch this transformation smoothly, firstly, in view of supply and demand activities, the difference between traditional enterprises and SDN enterprises are analyzed emphatically. Then, facing the changing aspects, the Petri net modeling is applied to design some sub-models on this transforming, and based these sub-models the integrated and optimizing model for this study is given to provide the basis of launching, appraising, error controlling for this transforming.   • Analyzing and identifying of cascading failure in supply chain networks

    This paper addresses the cascading failure problem in a supply chain network, where all the nodes are interconnected and interdependent in this network. Therefore, a Node Importance Evaluation Method (NIEM) is proposed to analyze cascading failure characteristics in the supply chain network firstly, and then the critical nodes which may cause cascading failure in the whole network are identified. Subsequently, the NIEM is employed to analysis a food supply chain network as a case study. Finally, a computational results and date analysis is presented to show the damage degree of cascading failure using the largest workload tolerance parameter. In this paper, through the establishment of cluster supply chain risk evaluation indexes system, the use of ANP (The Analytic Network Process) amended based on entropy, through comprehensive indexes of non-linear evaluation model and its algorithm, effectively solve the general linear methods can not solve the non-independent relationships of same cluster indexes in the complex system, as well as the mutual feedback relationships of the indexes of the cluster between upper and lower, in order to achieve supply chain risks evaluation more rational and objective.   • Study on performance assess of bonded logistics based on supply chain

    The bonded Logistics comes into being as a kind of logistics management mode associated with increasing global operations of transnational corporations and international distribution needs. This paper studied bonded logistics from the perspective of the supply chain to measure the role the bonded logistics played to the supply chain performance with the microscopic point of view. This paper introduced the system dynamics method and established the bonded logistics system dynamics model by using the supply chain idea on the basis of the introduction of the cross-border vendor management inventory model system. The overall supply chain inventory, sales volume and supplier costs were examined under different states by changing the customs clearance time in the model. Finally, the simulation results are analyzed to get the conclusions that the bonded logistics can reduce costs and improve supply chain performance effectively in the cross-supply chain.   • Economic benefits of enterprise resources planning (ERP)- based on empirical evidence from Chinese listed companies

    Can ERP software bring users economic benefits during a company's operational management? This paper adopts revised value chain method to construct a set of indicators. Using listed companies that implement ERP as samples and the implementation year as the starting point, it compares the value of companies three years before the implementation of ERP and two years after implementation of ERP and testifies it. In order to guarantee the reliability of the conclusion, it uses statistical analysis on the single variable and the multi-variance to test the results. The results show that if the effect of the industry and size factors is left out of account, the IT(Inventory Turnover), FAT(Fixed Asset Turnover), SC (Sales Changes) of companies that implement ERP system are obviously higher than those have not implemented it; the economic benefits of ERP users are better than the non-users; all the economic indicators of ERP users do not show obvious performance change in the implementation year. In the first year of implementing ERP, SC (Sales Changes) and RRE (return on equity ratio) change obviously, showing that ERP brings some economic benefits to users; in the second year of implementing ERP, besides higher SC and FAT than non-users, only ART(Accounts Receivable Turnover) and APT(Accounts Payable Turnover) change obviously, showing ERP brings in changes in users' market and sales segment, but other indicators do not change obviously.   • Management capability and evaluation of contractors relationship in BPO enterprises

    The capability of relationship management is given more and more considerations with the development of BPO. The ability can be described from three fields: the will of relationship management, management capability for life cycle of service contractor relationship and the performance of relationship management, from which 10 indexes for evaluation can be drawn, for example, attention of high-layer decision makers, establishment of relationship management system, etc., and which can be measured by the aid of Analytic Hierarchy Process Method. It is found that there are three key factors influence the BPO enterprise's relationship management capability. The first one is the establishment of relationship management system and its state. The second one is the attention of high-layer decision makers. The third one is the ability to identity and negotiate with service contractors.     With the development of China's economy as well as the improvement of the reform and opening-up's level, the status of logistics industry in our economy also has been strengthened continuously. As an integrated industry which combined service with device fabrication, logistics industry has an obvious influence on the regional economies. Adapting to system dynamics, the elements of the logistics industry impacting on regional economy development based on Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban economy circle, a typical economy circle in China is studied; the causality between supply capacity of the regional logistics based on the factors effect and regional economic system is crystallizes, and the mechanism of the effect that regional logistics of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Urban Economic Circle acts on the regional GDP is analyzed.     This paper describes the application of System Dynamic in supply chain management's area. Analyzing the systematization and dynamics' character on Supply Chain, it shows feasibility of applying System Dynamic and research method of Supply Chain System based on System Dynamic. Through analyzing SD model it showed that human resources and fixed costs perturbed lowly for performance, but fluctuation of demand effects superiorly to finance performance. This Dynamic location method melts SD model, therefore, which can deal with some soft variables, at the same time overcome limitation of traditional statistical method.   • A study on inventory cost reduction based on economic order quantity model

    This paper conducts an in-depth analysis of three models derived from economic order quantity (EOQ) model in an effort to reduce high inventory cost associated with the IT commodities sold in one of the Carrefour supermarket outlets. These three models are: 1. model of lots ordered and delivered independently, 2. model of lots ordered and delivered jointly, and 3. model of lots ordered and delivered for a selective subset. Mathematically, these three models are carefully discussed and compared in this paper. The third EOQ-based model contains more selective procedures combining the commodities to be ordered jointly in an order schedule and with that may lead to an optimal solution for its lowest cost.   • Research on location model of risk pooling with compensation policy

    We summarized recent research aimed at expanding the context of facility location decisions to incorporate additional features of a supply chain including variable construction cost, inventory management, transportation cost, etc. Authors expended location model of risk pooling with variable construction cost (LMRPVCC) to construct location model of risking pool with variable construction cost with compensation policy. In a buyer market, logistics corporations may apply compensation policy in order to hold more customers by giving a discount transportation charge. Authors build a square nonlinear 0-1 integer-programming model and use particle swarm optimization algorithm to find suboptimum solutions. The numerical examples are given separately along with the models to evaluate the effectiveness of the model. According to the computational results, we can draw these conclusions: transport costs factor ß is positively related with the objective function value.     Supplier selection is a multi-criteria problem including various factors. It is increasingly becoming a strategic issue for companies in supply chains and it is usually made by multiple decision makers according to multiple criteria. Vendor selection has an important impact on the competitiveness of firms. Considering to its complexity, the work will focus especially on the final selection stage with the method of fuzzy-ANP. We use ANP when considering the feedback and the relations between those factors. Due to complexity in assessing supplier selection performance, it is difficult for decision-makers to provide exact numerical values for the factors.   • The retailer's ordering strategy under buy-back rate risk fluctuating

    Based on the analysis of classical buy-back contract's price, quantity and the maximum buy-back rates, this paper further discusses the retailers' order strategies when the supplier are able to promise the maximum buy-back rates during the risk fluctuations. In this paper, a mathematical model is established to maximize the profit when buy-back rates risk fluctuates. The paper also discusses different profits variations of retailers and of the entire supply chains whether or not considering the risk fluctuations under three different situations. After knowing the parameters of the risk fluctuations, the best order strategies of retailers will make significant sense. The fluctuations of the risk of buy-back rates would bring down the expected profits of the members of the supply chain, as well as the overall profits of the supply chain. If the retailer does not adjust his order strategies when the risks fluctuate, the expected profits of the entire supply chain will remain the same as the classic buy-back case, while parts of the profits of the retailer will be shifted to the supplier, causing the retailer's profit losses.   • Emergency resources dynamic assignment using a repast symphony-based simulation

    This paper addresses stochastic dynamic assignment of perishable goods in a scale-free network. We develop an agent-based simulation model in which the supplies and demands for a single perishable commodity are generated at each node (agent) in the network. We match supplies and demands with several pre-specified assignment rules and given various commodity decay durations. A utility is associated with each assignment based on the spatial proximity between the supplier and the recipient. We assess various rules in terms of overall network utility. Our computational results show that 1) it is beneficial to use hybrid assignment rules that integrate the spirit of system-wide assignment and that of local preferred assignment; 2) it may be beneficial to allow agent behavior changes with certain degree of autonomy.
