Abstract

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) promulgates over 2000 national codes and standards that are used worldwide for the application of facility and safety concerns. IEEE has representation on several, and among them is NFPA 70B. Intended primarily for industrial type applications, others, such as commercials applications, can also find useful information for similar equipment. Reports are made to the Standards Coordinating Council (SCC) 18 of IEEE, interfaces directly with IEEE 902-1998 "Maintenance, Operations and Safety" and with any of the other IEEE Color Books where maintenance issues are a concern. The paper provides a brief history of the document, a review of the present version, and highlight some of the topics of interest under consideration for the 2005 edition.
