cdma2000 is the name of a cellular standard which has evolved from the IS-95 (cdmaOne) standard, extensively deployed in the USA and Korea. It is a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) IMT-2000 family of 3G standards. 1×EV-DV (Evolution Data and Voice) is the name given to the extension to the cdma2000 standard which increases data rates up to 3 Mbit/s by using higher-level modulation including 8-PSK and 16-QAM. This paper details the main terminal features as derived from the published standards for cdma2000 (including 1×EV-DV) and details the differing design requirements placed on the receiver compared to the W-CDMA (UMTS) standard.
