Abstract
The authors describe the application of a trajectory sensitivity
method to the identification of synchronous generator reactances and
excitation system time constants. The evaluation of the identification
method is performed using different types of disturbances in a
single-synchronous-generator, single-line-to-infinite-bus power system.
This generator is modeled in great detail to provide an accurate
reference model. The robustness and performance of the method are tested
by identifying the d and q-axis reactances of a less
detailed synchronous machine model. The performance of the
identification method is evaluated by comparing time responses and
transfer functions of the reference and the identified models using
different types of faults
