Abstract
An important part of today's traffic is parking and most especially in the congested urban areas. This often leads to additional traffic. As part of ITS deployment in China, parking guidance system is drawing attention for alleviating congestion. Considering the existing traffic management measures, the schematic of integrating advanced parking guidance and information system into urban traffic flow guidance system is put forward in the first part of this paper. The rest of this paper deals with the key technologies for improving the efficiency of parking guidance system such as information, routing, toll collection by using dedicated short range communications, communication technology in the mobile environment, prediction method of available parking spaces, etc. The last section provides some suggestions that future study needs.
