Information-theoretic limits on coherent nonlinear optical-fiber communication

Information theory establishes fundamental limits on the rate of reliable communication over noisy channels. This talk reviews basic information-theoretic concepts, particularly as they apply to coherent optical data transmission over nonlinear optical fibers.
