Low complexity convolutional decoder for 4-PSK modem

A new soft decision decoding algorithm for convolutional codes is introduced. It has been shown that the decoder complexity is reduced substantially in comparison with conventional Viterbi decoder. The particular application studied is a trellis coded 4-PSK modulation.<
