Implementation of automated demand side energy monitoring on TOD basis using LabVIEW

This paper describes the implementation of remote monitoring system for the demand side energy utilization using the graphical system design platform - LabVIEW. This LabVIEW application uses the concept of Time of Day (TOD) metering to track how much electricity a consumer uses and the time of use. Demand side energy utilization is tracked electronically using a microcontroller based system. The electronically tracked information is acquired by the LabVIEW application using ZigBee based wireless communication. This LabVIEW based remote application enables the operator to fix the consumer's energy unit prices which vary at different times of the day. Finally this automated system also generates a detailed statement of the demand side energy utilization which in turn helps the demand side to manage the electricity utilization.
