Nonlinear modeling of PMSE receiver frontends using Volterra Series

This paper deals with the modeling of Programme Making and Special Event receiver frontends. The model's focus is upon the nonlinear elements inside the first mixer stage. Therefore two versions of Volterra Series models are considered, the truncated Volterra Series Model and the Memory-Polynomial Model, which can be derived from a Volterra Series approach with reduced complexity. The identification of the model's parameters is achieved by the least-squares method based on measurement data consisting of the nonlinear system's input- and output-signals. For this purpose application related test-signals are generated, containing several narrow- and wideband signals. A comparative analysis of the models' quality is done, taking the normalized mean-squared-error (NMSE) and the computational effort into account.
