Pilot power optimization for autonomous femtocell networks

Deploying femtocells lead to an incredible increase in macrocell coverage and the capacity of networks. Autonomous femtocell operations can improve the networks normal services, driven by the growth in consumer numbers. Traditional operators shrink the organizational demands to reduce the amount of traffic, which leads to efficient pilot power configuration. A solution is proposed for a dense wireless environment in order to achieve optimal systematic settings. In this paper, a new adaptive pilot power model is introduced at femtocells, to adapt the transmitted power as a function of clients' positions. In this regard, a novel probability algorithm is developed for power adaptations using mobile station location and speed. This improves the flexibility of the new femtocells in increasing the throughput and reducing power of transmission. Simulation results show the superiority of the new scheme in responding to the changes in the mobile distances, and adjusting the pilot power parameters. The new model of power optimisation is evaluated, to attain the higher levels of network reconfigurability.
