In this paper, different XLPE transmission system solutions are described in terms of technology, ecology and economy. Based on the growing experience of XLPE cable systems and their qualitative improvements during the years, a condensed reliability study between OH-lines and XLPE cable systems with pre-moulded accessories is presented. Other aspects are commented with regard to the following question: "Which consequences are present if another power transmission system solution is chosen?".
