The problem of electromagnetic wave diffraction by a semi-infinite grating consisting of metal strips placed in the magnetic-dielectric half-space has been solved using the operator method. This problem has physical applications such as detection and determination of periodical metal inclusions in a magnetic-dielectric medium by analyzing of their scattered fields rather far from the magnetic-dielectric surface
