Summary form only given. We study theoretically the coherent manipulation and dissipative dynamics of the relative phase of atomic Bose Einstein condensates coupled by a Josephson interaction. We consider the case of two and three coupled condensates, and a coupling in the form of an internal Josephson effect (coupling of internal atomic states via a laser induced Raman transition) and an external Josephson effect via tunnelling.
